About Us

Carroll Walker Irish Dance was established in Brisbane in 2025 by Gerard Carroll ADCRG and Adrian Walker ADCRG - both fully qualified teachers and adjudicators with CLRG - the world's original and biggest Irish dancing organisation. Boys and girls aged 3+ are welcome for recreation or competition, and we have classes for intermediate, open and adult dancers.

Classes are held throughout Brisbane in Bulimba, Woolloongabba, Moorooka, Clayfield and Bowen Hills. At Carroll Walker Irish Dance we are committed to the growth and education of our students.

Young dancers from the Carroll School of Irish Dancing

Carroll Walker Irish Dance have taught hundreds of dancers their basic steps right up to World Championship level choreography. Dancers have taken part in local class competitions, regional competitions and international major championships. Dancers have also had various opportunities to dance at shows and displays. Dancers can also be prepared for grade examinations as a formal and non-competitive certification of their dancing progress.

As a school, we promote positive mental health and hold non-dancing events throughout the year for the dancers to unwind and socialise. Carroll Walker Irish Dance aims to instil a passion for dance within our dancers, as well as promoting physical activity, Irish culture, confidence and social skills.

Testimonials

IMG_3306.jpeg

"My daughter Sarah's journey began at the tender age of 4, where her passion for dance blossomed under nurturing guidance. Now, at 13, her love for dancing knows no bounds, whether in class, on stage, or during exhibitions, particularly relishing the spirit of St. Patrick's Day performances. Carefully crafted exercises not only keep her fit and healthy but also enhance her skills. Sarah enthusiastically embraces local and national competitions and the supportive approach ensures that competition remains optional.

Beyond the dance floor, the friendships she's forged are enduring, thanks to the commitment to fostering a vibrant community through social activities like Easter and summer camps, Christmas dinners, BBQs, quizzes, mindfulness sessions, and cherished movie nights. Sarah’s journey with Irish dance is not merely a hobby; it’s a lifelong skill that she has acquired, a testament to her teacher's unwavering dedication and infectious love for Irish dance, which illuminates the journey of every student who attends the classes and studio."

"We joined 8 years ago and never looked back. Both of my daughters and my son have been pupils. It is a friendly family orientated school. There is a caring and fun environment in which the children learn Irish dance and improve their health and fitness. The teachers are supportive to all children and this caring approach allows every student to develop at their own pace. The highlight for the children is the Class Feis where everyone gets an opportunity with the help of the teacher to perform on stage for family and friends, which gave my children a new found confidence. At the heart of the school is a focus on fun and enjoyment through dance. My children have gone on outings, meet-ups, summer camps and trips away. I can't recommend the school enough."

- Fiona, parent

"My daughter started dancing 5 years ago. Since day one, she remains committed and loves going every week to learn new steps and exercises. She has become more confident and also takes part in competitions. This is because Gerard is caring and captures the best in her. She has made lots of friends since joining the school and has lots of fun with them. As a parent I'm very grateful for all Gerard does during dancing classes, get togethers in McDonalds, cinema trips and workshops. When I drop her off I'm content that she is well looked after and secure. At the school we are one big family."
